Add-ons are purchased in the portal after checkout, not at the buy-box. You first complete your dataset checkout, then add the capabilities you need from the portal.
Access vs. creditsAPI access is free on every plan — a valid API key is all you need to call the API. The individual data-bearing calls you then make consume credits from your monthly allocation, and downloads additionally need an active license for the dataset.
