What are B2B-only datasets?
Not every dataset is for sale in the shop. Some are B2B-only: they exist, have full metadata and a dataset page, but have no product to check out. Here is how to recognise and access them.
1. Every dataset exists; not every one is sold
A dataset is the data artifact, and every dataset Topolab operates has one — including B2B-only datasets that are not sold in the shop. A product, by contrast, only exists when a dataset is for sale, and a dataset has zero or one product. So a B2B-only dataset is simply a dataset with no product wrapper.
2. How to spot one
Call GET /v1/dataset/:table/products (public, zero credits). If the returned array is empty, the dataset is B2B-only — there is no product page to send a buyer to. The dataset itself still has a full detail record, quality grade, field analysis and samples like any other.
3. Accessing B2B-only data
Because the dataset page is the authoritative truth surface, B2B-only datasets are fully documented there even though they never appear in the public shop. To arrange access to a B2B-only dataset, get in touch through /contact rather than a self-service checkout.
Why the split mattersThe dataset surface (/datasets) is authoritative precisely because B2B-only datasets have no product to render on — the data always has a home, whether or not it is for sale.
